8 Types of  Fast
There are eight types of fasts , described as follows:
1. Fardh Mu'aiyyan Fasting for the whole month Ramadhan once a year.
2. Fordh Ghair Mu'aiyan The duty upon one to kee Qadhaa of a fast which was missed in the month of Ramadh n with WA or without a valid reason.
3. Waajib Muaiyyan ts To vow to keep a fast on a specific meNin day or date for the sake of Allah, upon the fulfillment of some wish d or desire (Nazr).
4. Waajib Ghair Muaiyyan To vow or pledge to keep a fast without fixing any day or date, upon the fulfillment of a wish at I Nazr). Those fasts which are kept for breaking one's Qasm (oath also fall under this category
5. Sunnah Those fasts which Rasoolullah (sal-la-laahu akyhi wa sal lam kept and encouraged others to keep i e. fasting on the 9th and 10th of Muharram, the 9th of Dhul Hijjah and the fosts 0A of Shawwal s
6. Mustahab All fasts besides Fardh, waajib and Sunnah are Mustahab i.e. fasting on Mondays and Thursdays, is desirable.
7. Mokrooh i,k. Fasting only on the 9th or the 10th Muharram on 5 fasting only on Saturdays, is undesirable.
8. Haraam It is not permissible to fast on five days during year. They are Eidul Fitr, Eidul Adha and three days after Eidu Adha.










Niyah ah (intention)
● The Niyyah (intention) fasting is necessary. If a person stays from all those things that break one's fast without a The Niyah, the fast will not be valid.
● It is not necessary to express the Niyyah verbally as Niyyah means to intend. Thus, the intention in the heart will suffice. However, you can express the Niyyah verbally also by saying: Wa bisowmi ghadin nawaytu (I intend to keep the fast of tomorrow). with
● The time for Niyyah lasts up to midday for Fardh Muaiyyan, Waajib Muaiyyan, Sunnah or Mustahab fasts. The hours of a day are from Subah Sadiq to Sunset.
●The Niyyah for Fard Ghair Muaiyyan and Waajib Ghair Muaiyyan ish should be made before Subah Sadiq
Dua at Iftaar (the time of breaking fast)
Alahumma Waka sumtuwa abrizgika attartu
o Allah, for you I have fasted and I have completed my fast (Iftaar) on what you have provided.
